We will meet at 10:30 to tour the museum. A museum staff member will give a short introduction to the museum and exhibits. Your tour is self-guided.
Permanent Exhibits Include:
Explore Clarksville’s history in Becoming Clarksville: Honoring Legacies of Leadership. Find out how local agriculture, industry, education, culture, government, medicine, military, and transportation have all contributed to the city of today, and learn about the leaders who have shaped our history.
The Explorers' Gallery is packed with fun, learning and fantasy. With McGregor's Market and Kitchen, Raceways, and the Bubble Cave children can learn through play!
The Bubble Cave is now open for exploration! Not only can you have some great bubbly fun, but you can also learn about the science of bubbles and caves.
See the life and history of Montgomery County during the mid-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries. Memory Lane features a re-built 1842 log cabin, and a historic Printmaker's Shop, Toy Shop, and Tobacco Shop. Antique fire trucks, wagons, and carts reveal transportation before the automobile.
Challenges and Champions highlights amazing athletes who have come from Montgomery County. See Jeff Purvis' racecar, Wilma Rudoph's relay baton, Billy Copeland's street luge, and other exciting mementos of sporting history.
This exhibit shows a piece of the Museum's history. The building was designed in 1898 for use as a Federal Post Office and Custom House to handle the large volume of foreign mail coming up the river from the city's international tobacco business.
The Customs House Museum Boehm porcelain collection is one of the largest in the southeast. It houses dozens of beautifully detailed birds and flowers, and is truly a must see sight for anyone who can appreciate the beauty of nature.
The Museum’s admission prices are as follows:
• $1 students
• $5 parents
• Free for Children under 6 and Museum Members.
The Customs House Museum has a parking lot that provides free parking for our visitors (space is limited). Our parking lot is located just past the museum and to the right.
